Other searchable funding databases are as follows.  Some are free and some require users to pay for services.

Direct Gov  (FREE)

This portal enables users to identify local funding opportunities in each local authority in England.


This website produced by The Directory of Social Change can be used to find funds from local, regional and central government departments, European funding strands (e.g. European Regional Development Fund), and government funded organisations (e.g. Big Lottery). Users need to subscribe to use this service, but voluntary and community sector organisations are eligible for a discount. 

Grant finder

This is a searchable database of over 6,000 funding opportunities in the UK and European Union. Other services include a newsflash service, deadlines listing, and research help desk. There is an annual fee to use this service, but voluntary sector organisations are eligible for a discount. 

Grants 4 Schools 

Grants 4 Schools is the most comprehensive and up to date funding information service available to UK primary and secondary schools. It informs you on grant funding opportunities from the European Union, UK Government Agencies, the lottery as well as Grant Making Trusts & Foundations.

Grantnet  (FREE)

This is a free search engine produced by Grant Finder which includes a step-by-step guide to finding appropriate funds. The website also includes comprehensive resources to develop funding skills, such as guides for writing grant application forms and financial plans.

Grants 4 funding portals (FREE)

This website includes funding information from forty local authority areas. Users can perform grant searches to identify funds in each area for a range of activities, such as arts, sports, and education and training. It is designed to work in conjunction with the local authority community, regeneration and economic development services. 

Lottery Funding (FREE)

This search engine can be used to identify Lottery funding programmes in England.

NCVO funding central  (FREE)

This website includes an easy to use database to search for grants, contracts and loans, and a range of tools, resources and information to develop users’ fundraising skills.

School Funder Finder

This is a subscription based service to help schools find appropriate funds. It includes a searchable database and email alerts. NFLN members that subscribe before 30th September 2011 are eligible for a discount, so please see link for further information.


This website can be used to search for funds from grant-making trusts. It includes details of a range of  grant -making trusts. It is updated regularly throughout the year. Users need to subscribe to use this service, but voluntary and community sector organisations are eligible for a discount.
